Smiley Sharon was the youngest child of William and Susanna Sharon. He was born in Smithfield on February 14th, 1827. This Smiley Sharon, the third of this name, married Sarah Ann Hurford on October 26th, 1848 in Smithfield.
Sarah Ann was the daughter of Aquilla Hurford and Rachel Matson. She was a Quaker born in Short Creek, Harrison County, Ohio on May 26, 1831. Aquilla Hurford was born in Short Creek, Jefferson County, a son of Evan Hurford and Sarah Hall and grandson of John Hurford and Sarah Hayes. Rachel Matson was also born in Short Creek, a daughter of Enoch Matson and Sarah Thompson.
Smiley and Sarah Ann Sharon had a family of five. Four sons, and one daughter.

Smiley Sharon resides one mile south of Mount Pleasant, on one of the most beautiful farms in the country, and besides the natural beauty of situation, he has applied all the means that art could devise to add to its natural beauty. Mr. Sharon is largely engaged in the raising of fine stock, especially fine sheep.
