Federal Census of 1830, M19-127, p 343, Somerset Twp., Belmont Co., Ohio, lists Edwin and shows one free white male of 5 and under 10 years of age, which would be Milton (5 yrs).

Federal Census of 1840, M704-378, p 16, Somerset Twp., Belmont Co., Ohio, lists Edwin & shows one free white male of 15 and under 20 years of age, which would be Milton (15 yrs).

Federal Census of 1850, M432-661, p 401, Somerset Twp., Belmont Co., Ohio, shows Milton at home with Edwin, 25 yrs, M, W, farmer, Ohio birth.

Federal Census of 1860 does not show Milton at home with Edwin.

Federal Census of 1870, M593-1174, p 336B, Somerset Twp., Belmont Co., Ohio, lists Edwin and shows Milton back at home: 46 yrs, M, W, works on farm, Ohio birth.

Federal Census of 1880 lists Edwin but Milton is not at home.

Records indicate a Milton Patterson, Pvt serving in Company A, 88th Ohio Infantry, and
Pvt serving in Company B, 153rd Ohio Infantry, and
Milton B. Patterson, Lt serving in Company G, 118th Ohio Infantry.
