Louisa Stanley

  General Notes:

Lousia was found in the bottom of her well on her homestead at the time of her death. Many believed that this was no accident, but that she had committed an act of suicide. This information was obtained from Martha bell ( Hiatt ) Smith in the year 1994.

  Research Notes:

The Stanley line came to America from England in 1662 to new Kent cty., Virginia, then to Guilford County., north Carolina for several years before some families migrated west to the newly opened areas in Indiana and Ohio. The Stanley's stopped first in Clermont County., Ohio then on to Union County, Indiana. From there a few went on into Randolph County, Indiana. The Hiatts and the Stanley's share a Quaker heritage and there have been several marriages between the two families since their arrival in America.

Louisa married Jesse Hiatt, son of Eli Hiatt and Mary Conner, on 10 Aug 1856 in Randolph, Indiana, USA. (Jesse Hiatt was born on 29 Dec 1832 in Randolph, Indiana, USA and died on 25 Mar 1916 in Randolph, Indiana, USA.)
