MARIS, GEORGE. Springfield.
June 9, 1757. December 24, 1760.
To son James 5 shillings. To son Jesse lot of ground in Chester near
the meeting house and £40. To daughter Alice Lewis £40. To daughter
Susanna Hall £25. To son John £50. To son Caleb £50. To daughter Ann
Maris £50. To son Isaac west end of plantation. To son Jehu the
remainder of plantation including buildings, subject to provision for
his mother. To wife Ann £100 and all remainder of estate.
Executors: Wife and sons Jesse and Jehu.
Witnesses: James Bartram, Isaac Howell, Elizabeth Bartram.

General Notes: From the Maris Family book:

Owned and resided at "Home House," in Springfield, Delaware county. The main part of the present building was erected by him in 1722. His will was admitted to probate 24 Nov 1760. From it we abstract the following:

"Item, My will is that my Plantation shall be devided by a line to begin at a corner stone standing at the end of the Lower Meadow by water Course, so up the fence to the Ditch and from thence straight up the Meadow to a white oak and sassafrax standing near the Ditch and from thence across the Meadow to where the water Course comes out of the field and from thence up the fence to the upper end of the Meadow, from thence along the road to a spanish oak standing near the Spring house and from thence up by the west end of the Little orchard to the line between me and cousin Joseph Maris.
Item, I give and bequeath the west end of the Land that hath on Bulidings unto my son Isaac Maris his heirs and assigns forever.
Item, I give and Bequeath to my son Jehu Maris the other end of the plantation, next to Darby Creek with all the Buildings and Improvements to him his heirs and assigns forever, he allowing his Mother Privilege of two rooms in the house, the Lower Room next the orchard, and the upper Room at the right hand of the head of the stairs, and the privilege of the Kitchen, Cellar, and Oven and Draw well and Spring house for her necessary use, and ground for a garden Before the Door and apples for her use out of theorchard and to keep her one horse and one cow winter and summer and cut fire wood and Bring unto the house for her as much as is necessary for her use and privilege,"

George married Sarah Lewis on 19 May 1720 in Springfield, Chester, Pennsylvania. (Sarah Lewis was born on 30 Jun 1694 in Springfield, Chester, Pennsylvania and died on 26 Oct 1723.)

George next married Hannah Massey in Dec 1725. (Hannah Massey was born on 17 Dec 1698 in Marple, Delaware, Pennsylvania and died in 1730 in Marple, Delaware, Pennsylvania.)

George next married Mary Rees in Jul 1730. (Mary Rees was born about 1696 in Goshen Mm, Chester, Pennsylvania and died about 1732.)

George next married Ann Lownes in Sep 1732. (Ann Lownes was born on 1 Aug 1707 in Springfield, Chester, Pennsylvania and died on 19 Dec 1780.)
