Lebbeus White of Stamford, Conn. lived in Long Ridge b. 10 Jun 1748, drowned 5 Jul 1779, and in Nov 1889 his gravestone was in excellent condition lying flat on the ground by the fence, the inscription as good as new in an old family graveyard in Stamford. It appears that his and others remains? were removed to a new monument on Long Ridge, Stamford, and that his and his fathers epitaphs are not ?. He served as a private in Capt. David Haits Co. 9th Conn. Militia at New York, Aug 13 to Sep 27 1776. His regiment was in the Battle of Long Island Aug 27 1776. Married Abigail Weed, b. 24 Oct 1750 at Stamford, Conn. "Cowles Family Chart", handwritten, undated, original in the Connecticut State Library.
